What a beautiful morning to wake up , the dawn is bright as I get up early to feed myself before the long journey to Switzerland and then to France . Joe and I are all ready as we set off in a taxi to the airport . I manage to have a few gulps of coffee at the airport but choke on most !!!
The flight was steady as I looked out of my window to this beautiful land with a patchwork of fields ready for the harvest and deep valleys gorged out of the mountainsides by rivers, canals and train tracks engineered and built far and wide connecting the towns across the country by the toil of men. The deep blue sea which separates our cultures, language and customs.
We arrive in Geneva and meet Sam with his familiar smile and the shuttle driver to take us to Annecy. Sam chatted in French in the front as Joe and I tried to make out what they were talking about ! We arrived in the late afternoon to our apartment which was basic but clean and in the very centre if the old town . We were all hungry and my stomach was cramping up again so we went in search of the supermarche . I revelled in the new menu of yoghurts and mousses and grabbed chestnut mousse and coffee milk puddings , fish and sauce and vanilla yoghurt drinks while Sam and Joe tucked into French bread, smoked ham , French cheese and salads. We then went out to discover the town and the lakeside and sat on the grass people watching .
On my software speech programme there is a capacity to save phrases or sentences and also a button to press if you want to either the American or posh English lady to speak for you. I mistakenly pressed an old page that I had saved , it was a statement I used when I was preparing to buy tickets for St Michaels mount a few weeks ago , to explain i was a member of the National Trust. It was a harmless statement but it is embarrassing when I press the speech button by mistake. It could potential be disastrous if I saved a statement of a more personal nature my mistake and pressed the speech button. So we laughed as I made up some very personal statements that could potentially shock ….. Maybe that will be new game !!!
The old town of Annecy is very quaint, set amongst the mountains with the lakeside pedal boats to hire. The old town is very appealing with bridges and old houses , churches and pavement cafes amongst flowers and cobbled streets. We sat awhile in a cafe while I tried out a white wine while we took in the sunset. We then meandered back to the apartment for a rest, I was really exhausted by than time and as I sat down I had that weird feeling again of all my muscles twitching as my nerves try to connect with my muscles all over my body .
Sam and Joe fell asleep , so here I am , it’s 10pm and I am in attic room in an old French house listening to Ludovico Einaudi while I catch up on my blogs, feeling relaxed now enjoying the company of my sons , no philosophy today just moments of living with MND .
