A long day of travelling down to Cornwall … Lots of time to think and contemplate the world and the future as I was sat next to Betsey in the back of the car while Helen and Mark drove us to Cornwall . We arrived at a blissful house overlooking the sea at Porthleven .
As I contemplated Betsey next to me I thought about what I would like to tell her and also what I would like to say to any potential grandchildren who might read these blogs one day . Betsey is very special to me as I have seen her grow into a very special young person who is close to my heart and I think if I had grandchildren they would also hold a special place in my heart also. I thought of George and Tristan in the same way , the twins of my friend but I guess I lost them as I can’t engage with them now as with toddlers you really need speech.
I guess what I would like say to these special young people Betsey , George and Tristan and any grandchildren that I might have, is be mindful of three aspects of your life …..
The first is your morality , never do what you wouldn’t like to be done to yourself . Always take the high moral ground if you are unsure of yourself . Never lie, cheat , steal, manipulate or be deceitful to others. Be mindful of others and be kind, empathic , thoughtful and genuine . Yes you might hurt others sometimes that’s inevitable but you don’t need to be cruel .
The second is self esteem . Never put yourself down , be confident in your actions , sometime you might get things wrong, that is normal , don’t put yourself down if issues doesn’t work out. Look after you mind and spirit , meditate, reflect in peaceful times. Learn to love yourself , and nurture yourself , be proud of your achievements and don’t punish yourself. Try to decrease too many stressful situations. This is not being self indulgent, if you can look after yourself you can look after others better and laugh at life … Enjoy your life as only have one and you don’t know how long or short that might be.
The final one is around looking after our body , as it is the vehicle of your drives and motivations . Never put poisons in your body and be mindful of alcohol. Be aware of what you eat and drink, assess what harm you are doing to your body . Don’t become, dependent of alcohol , tobacco or illicit drugs . Once you adapt a healthy lifestyle it will become routine . Take a little more time preparing your food from raw ingredients . Exercise, as this is the natural high and relish your body and appreciate how wonderful it is when he works functionally and consider how much could potentially go wrong. Be mindful of what goes in your body as you have control of that. Your body is the best machine ever created but it need to be maintained and also a knowledge of how it works .
I want to pass on the message …….take care of your mind and morality , live , laugh and love , rest and relax. Enjoy your life to the full and don’t be worried where it’s going, trust in yourself that you will find the way .
To you, Betsey, Tristan and George I am so sorry that I can’t see you grow up and be around for longer but I have been so privileged to be part of your life. To my grandchildren I have never met, I know that you will be fine, as my sons have grown up they have always expressed how they want children … that has been such a pleasure to hear and I know in my heart that they will love you as I love them . …
We are now in Porthleven in the Bay Villa overlooking the sea and I am sharing a room with Betsey and that is such a treat !!!!
