Another hectic day ….busy busy as I got up at 7am to pack , sort the builders before we got a lift with Helen and Betsey to the station as Louise and I were going on a trip away to London /Brighton .A full train but comfortable as we played scrabble while Louise and Helen chatted away. I couldn’t join in the conservation as it was going to fast but it rude to read my book while they chatted it felt unsociable , perhaps I should ask them but it make them feel awkward.
Then it was decided to go the Indian curry house by Euston , there was nothing for me to eat and I could sense their awkwardness as they ate in front of me . No matter how strong I try to be, on some occasions it does get too much and I really wanted to run away and cry as I was so hungry and felt life is so very unfair !!!! Would be better to go for a walk while they eat or stay ? What would be more awkward , I don’t have knowledge of social etiquette in these situations .
We eventually got on the tube and arrived at Vauxhall miles away from our hotel unbeknown to us. Correct road but we didn’t know the road was about 5 miles long!!! We pulled our suitcases for 45 mins in the hot sun , taking little breaks every 10 mins . It was worth it when we go there as the hotel was sublime. We went straight down to the spa for a swim and sauna which relaxed our tired muscles , a short rest and then out to meet Stuart Rakoff , my new found blogger friend who was visiting London from America.
The special moment of the day was the wonderful sunset as we walked through Battersea Park and over the remarkable Albert Bridge over to the Chelsea embankment towards a trendy bar. We walked past blossoming wisteria and scented jasmine over the walls of the grand houses . Sadly the walk was ruined abruptly as I tripped up over my foot fell and smacked the road with face! A few kind folks gathered around and suggested an ambulance but luckily Louise took control and I readjusted myself and we got a taxi and went to meet Stuart and his lovely wife Roz .
It was so good meeting them as Stuart and I communicated with my iPad it felt someone understood as he also had bulbar onset MND . They were such a lovely couple , i felt so comfortable in their company and they know what i a, going through like no one else does , it felt like fate that we met with them , it so interesting how my life has panned out since I became ill . After an hour my face had swelled and we then went home past the almost full moon hung low over the Thames back to out luxury hotel . What a full day !!!
